Why I Stopped Eyelash Extensions - Unpleasent Truth

Do you love the look of long, luscious eyelashes, but have been considering giving up eyelash extensions? As someone who used to swear by them, I recently made the decision to stop getting eyelash extensions and have never looked back.

In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my personal experience and the reasons behind my decision to ditch the extensions.

Why I stopped eyelash extensions

False eyelashes are great for cutting down on makeup time, no more mascara, waking up in the morning looking like you’re wearing makeup, etc., BUT there are a lot of reasons why they should still be avoided.

Some of the simplest disadvantages would certainly be that after the first installation you have to go at least every two weeks for an upgrade because they become intertwined and you have to constantly comb them and be careful how you wash them. The first installation was the most expensive, costing me about $90, while upgrades are cheaper.

Although all of us think that they look extraordinary when we see them on another woman, they are a great detail that would highlight our eyes and the whole face, only when you put them on, do you feel that they are not as wonderful as they look. So let’s start with the items and why they are not so wonderful.

1. They burden the eyelids

And even the lightest false eyelashes on the eyelids create additional weight. If you only have them temporarily, you probably won’t feel any problems, but if you wear them for a long time, you will feel the weight.

After wearing eyelash extensions for a while they weaken the lids and instead of looking glamorous your lids are more droopy and you look more tired.

2. They are a storehouse for bacteria and dirt

Natural eyelashes serve to protect the eyes. Eyelashes naturally filter out bacteria and dirt, and one of the biggest reasons to avoid false eyelashes is glue, which is a major reservoir for bacteria and dirt. False eyelashes sabotage the purpose of natural eyelashes, resulting in unpleasant eye infections.

3. Allergic reactions

To insert artificial eyelashes, toxic glue is most often used, which causes allergic reactions. Allergic reactions that can occur are red eyes, watery eyes, and itching, and the reactions can be less or stronger. This problem can be avoided if formaldehyde-free glue is used.

4. Temporary loss of eyelashes

When you decide you don’t want to have eyelash extensions anymore and you take them off, you lose your natural lashes. Yes, yes, I didn’t know that and I was desperate.

Imagine taking off big thick eyelashes and not only are you left with your naturally small eyelashes but you are left with nothing. And then the whole process for them to grow again – horror.

5. Permanent loss of eyelashes

As bad as temporary eyelash loss sounds, it can also happen that you lose your eyelashes forever. This case is not so common, but it is possible, and to prevent it from happening, try to use false eyelashes only on rare occasions or, best of all, stop using them altogether if you notice that you are losing your natural eyelashes.

6. Potential blindness

Bacterial infections or severe allergic reactions can lead to blindness. This is of course the most extreme side effect, but it is possible.

Be sure to first check the sensitivity to the glue used and thoroughly clean the area where the false eyelashes are applied and the eyelashes themselves to remove any impurities.

Reasons Why I Stopped Eyelash Extensions - My Personal Experience

Why I stopped eyelash extensions personal experience
I didn’t like the eyelash extensions at all… From the installation itself, where my eyes cried abnormally, to the huge dark circles that I had all the time since I installed them. They bothered my eyes, I constantly had a feeling of heaviness, and their constant falling out got on my nerves.
  1.  Eyelash extensions falling out The eyelash extensions look amazing only for the first few days, and then they start falling out one by one and you have more and more holes in your eyes, which I find very ugly. Then that feeling that you can’t scratch your eye normally, that you can’t wash normally, that you avoid diving, wiping your eyes with a towel, carefully removing make-up from the rest of your face, applying cream to your face, being careful not to touch your eyelashes so that they don’t fall off due to grease, a coma.
  2.  Loss of natural eyelashes And then shock and disbelief when you take them off your eyes completely. That scene when you see yourself with just a few of your eyelashes, with which you can do absolutely nothing and no mascara can help because you have nothing to put it on, was a tragedy for me. For two full months, I applied castor oil to my eyelashes so that they would grow back and become stronger, and I never want to do that again.
  3.  A feeling of lightness With all that, when I took them off, that feeling of relief in my eyes is priceless. So I wouldn’t recommend putting them on. Natural is natural and no art can beat that, and if you suffer from long and thick eyelashes, try the natural method with the help of castor oil. Castor oil will greatly help you, and we all know that natural is always more effective and healthier.
I will also leave you with a few experiences of women who have used these eyelash extensions and have shared their views on our Twitter page, just so you can also hear their opinions.

Opinions and Experiences On Eyelash Extension Risks

  1.  Annabelle
“Just 2 weeks ago, my cousin’s eyelashes fell out together with the artificial ones. He looks like an albino now. She did them in the best salon in town, and sometimes the most expensive. Basically… She regretted it and will never wear them again. Although, I must admit, when she first put them on, they looked beautiful.”
  2.  Sarah
“They look beautiful, they lift the face and make-up looks good, but I admire women who can wear them.
You can’t wash like a human or wipe your face, you can’t sleep on your stomach so they don’t wrinkle, you can’t rub your eye if it itches, if you put on make-up, eye shadow particles get entangled in them, so the science is removed because you can’t rub, if you don’t you take off the eye shadow (especially if it’s light) you look sloppy, you need to go for refills regularly because they don’t look pretty anymore when they fall off…
If you have sensitive eyes, you can easily get inflammation (my glands became inflamed, first in one eye and then in the other), so I took them off. By myself, with coconut oil, it took a couple of days for everything to go away, you can’t pull them out but dissolve the glue. Basically, in my experience, it’s too much trouble. Mascara is far less demanding.”
  3.  Audrey
“It’s a completely unnecessary and expensive sport. You’d rather get Demi Wispies and put them on in a second, take them off in a second, and at night you can rub your eyes and sleep on your stomach.
My friend put them, she lasted a full 7 days with them, and then she got conjunctivitis because there were remnants of makeup on her eyelashes and they mustn’t be wet, so she couldn’t clean them as she should have and as she normally does, so what problems plus what her eyelashes also fell off when she was taking them off.”
  4. Megan “It’s ugly to me. First thing any more permanent glue so close to the eye is crazy. After a few days, they start to look disgusting. Congratulations to those who have money to fill it now and then, but many do not, so there is an epidemic of disheveled eyelashes in the city. The very fact that you are not allowed to get them is also a horror, you cannot even wash them properly. Especially when women put on Russian volume so they look like drag queens. When they start to fall out, they look like a drag queen in decay.”
